Welcome to another year of business in Esquimalt

The Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce looks forward to a strong year in 2023.

If our first sold out business mixer of 2023 is any indication of the year ahead - we’re in for a big one!

We’re starting the year off by re-launching our Business Mixer series in partnership with local organizations like Driftwood, the Eagles and the stunning waterfront Salish Seaside RV Haven. After our highly successful 5 Chamber Mixer it was abundantly clear to us how deeply our business community wants to come together in-person and connect following long years of virtual-only meetings. We’re excited to bring these casual networking opportunities back to our members.

I am also pleased to share that the board welcomes new director Meagan Brame to the team. Many of you are familiar with former Councillor Brame and we are thrilled to have her business expertise to help shape our Chamber growth. I would like to thank departing Vice President Suzanne Bradbury and Director Joan Probert for their volunteer contributions.

Following our office changes in 2022, I’m looking forward to the next phase of the Shop Esquimalt Guide. Our team is working on developing a unique program that builds on the successes of the guidebook, while incorporating more digital content in a fun and accessible way. We’ll be launching the next iteration of the program in Spring 2023.

Along with our suite of Chamber programs developing momentum this year, I am delighted to announce the Chamber’s participation in the Business Façade Improvement Program led by the Township of Esquimalt. We will be releasing more details about the program and how to apply in the coming months. Kudos to Township staff for supporting this important revitalization initiative that aims to improve the character and physical appearance of our business hubs.

While we look ahead to 2023 and get excited for what’s next in the Chamber’s history, I also want to take this moment to acknowledge that the past several years have not been easy for our local businesses. The pandemic placed immense hardships on our local retailers, tourism sector and restaurants, and we have appreciated your continual involvement and support of the Chamber. Esquimalt is a highly desirable and quickly expanding area, and I am proud of the ways in which we continue to work together to foster a strong sense of community.

As always, the Chamber is open to conversations with business owners and residents alike. If you have something you want to discuss, reach out. We are ready to listen. In addition, the Chamber is looking to expand our Board of Directors so if you are passionate about Esquimalt business and would like to bring your unique talents to a committed group of Esquimalt business owners - we would love to hear from you.

Wishing you a prosperous Spring.

Holly Courtright - Esquimalt Chamber President
