As of Thursday June 4, 2020 Vancouver Island has 1 active COVID-19 case and 0 new cases reported within the past month. Our local Chamber members have been especially diligent in championing health and safety best practices to help eliminate the spread of COVID.

Here are a few of our amazing members and the precautionary measures they’ve taken.

Tudor House Liquor Store

  • Installed plexiglass barriers at all cash registers
  • Created a one-direction traffic flow line with stanchions
  • Installed several hand sanitizing stations at points throughout the store
  • Encouraged patrons to use contactless payment methods like credit card tap

Red Barn Market

  • Installed plexiglass barriers at all cash registers
  • Sanitized of carts and baskets after each use
  • Regulated the flow of traffic into the store with a door monitor
  • Controlled lineups using floor decals inside the store
  • Modified custom sandwich service
  • Made hand sanitizers available to cashiers and guests in the store

Sharkz Coins

  • Encouraged social distancing with witty floor tape
  • Posted social distancing and WorkSafe BC signage on exterior store door
  • Limited number of visitors within storefront at one time
  • Created a ‘high touch’ poster to alert visitors

Esquimalt Farmer’s Market

  • Implemented a one-way travel path for visitors with cones and volunteers directing
  • Created a division between viewing products and lining up to purchase products to minimize overlap
  • Moved market from Memorial to Bullen park to allow for social distancing
  • Adhered with all BC regulations for food markets
  • Individual vendors modified their operations to minimize touch and close contact
