PRESIDENT – CHRIS EDLEY, P. Eng
Chris is the co-owner of The Sharkz Store, Edley Signs and Edley Imagineering Inc. He is a longtime resident of Esquimalt and passionate about building a thriving business community in the Township. Chris and Helen are enthusiastic about geocaching and proudly opened Canada’s first geocaching supply store in 2006.
VICE PRESIDENT – RON SANDOR
Ron Sandor owns musiciswaycool where he has taught piano and music theory in the Esquimalt and Victoria area since 1990. His education background includes philosophy, psychology, music and art. He has taught interdisciplinary studies at York University.
Ron has been the recipient of many Canada Council grants and has exhibited through Canada, Italy and the US. He has volunteered since his teens and traveled extensively throughout the world. He has lived in 3 different provinces in Canada. Ron is married to a US citizen and is well trained by two cats. Ron enjoys hiking, rollerblading, swimming and reading. He is possessed by a ’77 VW bus that resists restoration.
SECRETARY – HELEN EDLEY
Helen is a Managing Partner of The Sharkz Store on Esquimalt Road, the Secretary of the Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Advisory Planning Commission for the Township of Esquimalt. The Sharkz Store is the home of Sharkz Coins, Edley Signs and Landsharkz Geocaching Supplies – all companies with graphics design as their foundation. Helen loves to travel, hike, geocache, and visit wineries… sometimes all at once! Helen has visited 46 countries so far, but also has a real soft spot for exploring BC Parks on foot or by boat.
DIRECTOR – ASH KNIGHTLEY
Argentis Properties Ltd.
Ash is a partner in Argentis Properties Ltd, a local company that owns and manages real estate. He has diverse experience as a naval officer, IT project manager, management consultant, entrepreneur, and has been active in a variety of community volunteer activities. Ash enjoys a variety of pastimes including squash, scuba diving, flying, motorcycling and most recently kiteboarding.
DIRECTOR – STEPHANIE MCEWAN
Stephanie is the owner and operator of Sunnyside Cafe on Esquimalt Road. She’s been running the Cafe since 2012 and enjoys the challenges of being an entrepreneur. She is active in the community and a strong supporter of the Esquimalt Farmers Market. She has 2 young children keeping her busy at home. Her hobbies are camping, hiking, cooking, travelling and spending time with her husband and children.
DIRECTOR – GREG SHERWELL
After 21 years in Victoria, Greg Sherwell and his wife moved to Esquimalt and never looked back. Since then, he has established the Esquimalt Roasting Company, a micro-roaster that has him invested in the community he calls home. ERC will be one of the exclusive ground-floor retailers in the new Town Square development by Aragon.
DIRECTOR – JAY SMITH
English Inn
Aragon – Town Square
Jay Smith has worked as a hospitality consultant for the past 10 years in western and eastern Canada, as well as the Caribbean. He specializes is resort development, staff support, training and management.
Jay is currently working with Aragon to support the restoration of the cherished English Inn Hotel. Aragon is restoring the property to its former glory. He is also the deficiency and customer care manager for the Esquimalt Town Square development.
Jay is pleased to call the island his home since 1992 and hopes to offer ideas, recommendations and support to the Esquimalt business community.
